Hurricanes to host Rams and Dragons this weekend

November 15, 2018

The Holland Hurricanes men’s and women’s volleyball teams will be in action at the Holland College Centre for Community Engagement this weekend with the women taking on the Dal AC Rams on Saturday and the men opening the home portion of their schedule with a pair of games against the Université de Sainte-Anne Dragons on Saturday and Sunday.

The women’s Hurricanes are in a tie for fourth in the ACAA with a 3-2 record to start the regular season. They are coming off a five-set loss to the UNBSJ Seawolves last Saturday in Saint John, New Brunswick.

The ‘Canes defeated the Rams in straight-sets in their only matchup this season on October 27 in Truro, NS. Dal AC is tied for sixth place in the ACAA with a 1-3 record.

Brittany States leads the ‘Canes in kills with 36, followed by Abby Hyndman with 29.

The men’s Hurricanes enter the weekend with a 1-1 record, having defeated the Dragons in straight-sets on November 4 in Church Point, NS, before falling in five-sets to the UNBSJ Seawolves last weekend. The Dragons enter play with an 0-4 record early this season and are in fourth place in the standings.

Hurricanes players, Brett Butler and Aaron Pugh, are both in the top-five in the conference for kills per set with 2.63 and 2.13 respectively.

Game times for Saturday are 4:30 & 6:30pm (w/m) and 11am on Sunday for the men.
